Our History

It all Began…In 1893 Swedish immigrants came to Northport, a small community on the Leelanau Peninsula. Members of the church took turns hosting in each others homes for Sunday worship until a formal building was built in 1901. Additions were added to the original building in 1994, and 2008. Throughout the years we have remained committed to our mission of Knowing Christ and Making Him Known to others. We are affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church, a denomination that was originally made up mostly of Swedish immigrants, but is now a multicultural mosaic of the Kingdom of God. We support Christian mission work locally, in the Detroit area, throughout our conference, and in several other countries. Members of our church family are personally involved with mission organizations in Haiti and Uganda. In late 2022 we gave grants to help churches in Florida, ministering with people impacted by hurricane Ian.  We are grateful that some of our members over the years have been called into full time pastoral ministry. We are always looking for ways to serve and help others. We welcome you to be a part of this church family.
